ECO4 FREE Boiler replacement grant application process:

Confirmation of Benefits:

  • We will send your data to the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) to confirm your benefits. Meanwhile, our office will verify the details we have about your boiler and property.
  • Our office’s ECO Improvements Experts will contact you within 48h to schedule a survey or provide additional information. You can expect a call either today or within the next few working days.

1st Option: ECO4 Qualifying Benefits:
  • Income based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
  • Income related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support (IS),
  • Pension Credit Guarantee Credit (PCGC)
  • Pension Credit Savings Credit (PCSC)
  • Working Tax Credit (WTC)
  • Child Tax Credit (CTC)
  • Universal Credit (UC)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Child Benefit (with income threshold)

2nd Option: Proof of Income (For Low-Income Applicants Without Benefits):

If your household income is below the £31k threshold, the surveyors will request proof of income.
The following combinations are acceptable for proof of income for all adults in the household:

  • Most recent P60 + 3 month worth of bank statements
  • Three months’ worth of bank statements + three months’ worth of payslips
  • Most recent Pension award letter + three months’ worth of bank statements
3rd Option: NHS Route:
  • A referral from NHS/GP, who refer for the ECO4 grant, is required.
    The individual being referred within the household should have one of the following conditions: cardiovascular condition, respiratory disease, limited mobility, or immunosuppression.

During the Survey:

  • The surveyor will measure the full floor plan of the property and take photos of all the rooms, including the boiler, loft, and radiators.
  • Proof of address such as a utility bill, water bill, electric bill, or council tax letter will be required to confirm that the owner and beneficiary live in the property.
  • If the property does not have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) prior to March 2022 showing a gas connection to the mains, proof of prior gas connection (e.g., gas bill dated March 2022 or earlier) will be needed. Assistance will be provided if you can’t find one.

After the Survey:

  • It will take approximately 1-7 working days to get the report
  • NOTE: Note we apply via Low income or NHS waiting time for approval is 1-6 weeks.
  • If the report is successful, our office will call you to share the news and book the installations.
  • If the report is unsuccessful, indicating minimum efficiency cannot be achieved or property efficiency is too high, we will inform you by call or text.
  • If you don’t receive any update within 1 week after the survey, feel free to contact the number provided for the survey booking or on the leaflet.

Regardless of the survey outcome, please be aware that all our services, including surveys and installations, will be provided free of charge, and covered by the ECO4 grant.
