ECO4 is the 4th part of the Government-funded ECO scheme, The government’s response to the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) consultation sets out the policy of the scheme from April 2022 until March 2026. The government allocated £4 billion to the scheme and provides a range of energy efficiency measures to homes in Great Britain.
If you’re a homeowner who meets the qualifying criteria set by the government you can claim a free boiler grant and get your brand new A-rated boiler installed in as little as 14 days. If you are a Private Tenant and don’t have a boiler installed before you may qualify for first time central heating grant.

All options depend on the condition and requirements of your individual property.
The surveyor will measure the full floor plan of the property and take photos of all rooms, including the boiler, loft, and radiators. The survey typically takes 1–2 hours on average.
During the survey, you will likely be asked to provide evidence of your eligibility, depending on how you qualify and whether any documents have already been submitted.
After the survey, we wait for the survey report, which usually takes 3–7 working days.
If the survey shows that your property may qualify for a grant, we then proceed with the further application process. However, until the survey is completed and confirmed, we cannot know whether the property qualifies.
Please keep in mind that property qualification and household qualification are two separate parts, and both must be approved before we can install anything.
For example:
The property must show low energy efficiency and there must be enough funding available to cover the required measures to improve it.
The household must confirm eligibility through means-tested benefits, a health condition, or low income. (Confirming health conditions or low income often takes longer because the local council needs to be involved.)
All of this is subject to individual circumstances.
